What is Observation?
Observation or sometimes referred to as “shadowing,” provides a hands-off learning experience for individuals interested in exploring healthcare careers. This program is designed for students, community members, and professionals seeking insight into various healthcare roles.
Who Can Participate?
Eligible participants must be 14 years or older and meet the following requirements:
- Complete an application and obtain approval from a sponsor.
- Secure a mentor in advance and receive their approval before submitting the observation packet.
- Allow at least 30 days for processing before the observation experience can begin.
Program Details:
- Observation experiences are limited to three days per application.
- Participants may apply for additional experiences with different sponsors.
This is a hands-off experience, allowing participants to observe healthcare professionals in action without direct patient interaction.
How to Apply:
To apply for an observation experience, follow these steps:
- Find a mentor – Applicants are responsible for identifying a mentor and securing their approval before beginning the application process.
- Complete the application – The required application is available on this webpage.
- Obtain sponsor approval – Your sponsor must sign a coordination form granting approval for the observation experience.
- Submit your observation packet – Ensure all required forms are completed and submitted at least 30 days before your desired observation start date.
